It is quite common that when our neighborhood or our relatives become more wealthier than never before, we will become more envious. The same thing happened in British India but in extreme manner.our wealth were either being exploited or hampered.
Before the entry of British India flourished in agriculture,textiles and craftsmanship.But after entry,except textile all comes to end.yes,agriculture was starved of good policies,artisans are left unemployed.British persons concerns more about Britain's economy,Due to which India changed to exporter of handicrafts to importer of finished products.
The agriculture sector remains stagnant during colonial era.even though 85% of people depend upon agriculture,there was no proper measure taken to improve the same sector.Due to zamindari system and lack of irrigation, Indian agriculture sector haunted by being unemployable.Tenants also changed their crop pattern.instead of food grains,they cultivated cash crops like Jute and Cotton.unavailability of food leads to 5 most famines in India in which Bengal famine is more brutal in nature which kills more than 10 million people.
Like agricultural sector, Industrial sector also declined in development.In the way of making India as a mere importer,Industrialist are not allowed to create jobs in industrial sector. The main motto of the British to de-industrialize India.so,that they can export that cash crops and came up with finished product.there by using India as great market.Due to restrictions on handcrafts,artisans just shifted to other sectors.but majority left with being unemployable.
India's trade with overseas is restricted.but India's trade mostly with Britain . in some extent India allowed to trade with Sri lanka,china and Persia.
demographic situation also was in bad condition. In 16% literate people, Only 7% women were literate.life expectancy (44) and mortality rate(228/1000) also in bad condition.
when came to Infrastructure, they done some satisfactory measures for transportation as they need it more than us.
however we can conclude like this,"INAPPROPRIATE ALLOCATION OF SOURCES WITH FOOLISH POLICIES".
